Semhar Tadesse, a spoken-word poet, played South Pacific on Savaii and earned a footnote in the show's history: she was the very first castaway sent to Redemption Island, the season's new one-on-one duel twist.
She lost her duel and was eliminated eighteenth, her game ending in the arena rather than at the usual Tribal Council. An early casualty of one of the era's signature format experiments.
