Jon Dalton — better known as Jonny Fairplay — invented the modern Survivor villain. In Pearl Islands he had a friend visit during a loved-ones challenge and deliver staggering news: that Jon's grandmother had died. It was a complete fabrication. Grandma was alive and well, watching at home. The lie won him the reward and powered his run to third place.
He couldn't close it out, losing the crucial final immunity to Lillian Morris and going out in third. His Micronesia return lasted exactly three days; he engineered his own first-boot exit to get home to his pregnant girlfriend. But the “dead grandma” lie remains the most notorious deception the game has ever seen.
