Gary Hogeboom pulled off one of Survivor's great identity cons in Guatemala. A former NFL quarterback, he knew his pro-athlete past and the wealth that came with it would paint a target on his back — so he invented an alter ego, introducing himself to the tribe as "Gary Hawkins," a humble lawn-irrigation salesman, and stuck to the lie for weeks.
He backed up the gamesmanship on the field too, finding and playing a hidden immunity idol and winning an individual immunity to extend his run. But eventual winner Danni Boatwright sniffed out his real identity, and once the cover was blown the target returned; Gary went out seventh. One of the franchise's most committed bluffs.
